Privacy Policy

Flying Tumbler Irish Whiskey, operated by Mount Leinster Distillers Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), is committed to protecting your personal data and your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

Who we are

Mount Leinster Spirits Ltd is the data controller. We're registered in Ireland with offices at Ballytarsna, Nurney, Co. Carlow. For any privacy queries, contact privacy@flyingtumbler.com.

What we collect

When you visit our website, place an order, or sign up for marketing, we may collect:

  • Contact details: name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping address.

  • Order details: products purchased, order value, currency, dates.

  • Payment details: handled by Shopify Payments. We don't store full card numbers — only a token reference and the last four digits.

  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring site.

  • Marketing preferences: whether you've consented to receive emails or other communications.

  • Customer service correspondence.

How we use it

We use your data to:

  • Process and fulfil your orders.

  • Communicate about your order (confirmation, tracking, delivery, refunds).

  • Provide customer support.

  • Send marketing emails — only if you've opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

  • Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud.

  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and tax obligations.

  • Improve our website and products via aggregated, anonymised analytics.

Legal basis

We rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:

  • Contract: processing necessary to fulfil your order.

  • Legitimate interest: fraud prevention, basic website analytics, customer service improvements.

  • Consent: marketing communications, non-essential cookies.

  • Legal obligation: tax records, customs records, age verification logs.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the following categories of recipient, and only to the extent necessary to deliver the service you've requested or to meet our legal obligations:

  • Shopify Inc. — our e-commerce platform and payment processor.

  • Shipping platforms and licensed carrier partners — including providers such as DPD, GLS, An Post, UPS, FedEx, and other carriers we engage from time to time, for shipping and delivery.

  • Fulfilment partners and licensed retailer partners — where engaged to assist with picking, packing, or dispatching specific orders on our behalf.

  • Mailchimp — our email marketing platform, if you've opted in.

  • Customs and tax authorities — where legally required (e.g., Irish Revenue, US Customs and Border Protection).

  • Professional advisers — accountants, lawyers, where strictly necessary.

How long we keep it

Order records: 6 years (Irish tax retention requirement). Marketing data: until you unsubscribe. Customer service correspondence: 2 years. Technical and analytics data: typically 13 months.

International transfers

Some of our service providers (notably Shopify and Mailchimp) may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or recognised adequacy decisions to ensure your data remains protected.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.

  • Have it corrected if inaccurate.

  • Have it deleted, subject to legal retention obligations.

  • Restrict or object to processing.

  • Data portability.

  • Withdraw consent for marketing at any time.

  • Lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (www.dataprotection.ie).

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@flyingtumbler.com.
